St. Cloud Cathedral used their size to eventually wear down Northfield and earn a trip to the semi-finals on Friday against Warroad. Joey Gillespie led the way with 2 goals and senior goalie Nick Hansen is undefeated when he starts a game this season. The rematch with Warroad will be something to watch as last time it was Cathedral winning in overtime up in Warroad, so we know they will be looking for revenge. St. Cloud is led by Forwards John Hirschfield, Joey Gillespie and Andrew Dwinnell and of course goalie Nick Hansen.
Warroad didn’t seem to miss a beat after last season’s disappointing championship OT loss to Mahtomedi. As the saying goes, they just reload for another run at a state championship. Watch for Carson Pilgrim, Taven James and Murray Marvin-Cordes to lead the way for this team on semi-final Friday. It should be another fantastic MN High School Hockey game.
