Grand Rapids wins Thriller with 2 seconds to play

The final game of the night was one worth waiting for.

Grand Rapids 2
White Bear Lake 1

White Bear Lake came into the Tourney hoping to end an 0-19 winless streak at the event.  Grand Rapids would get on the board early in the first when Will Shermoen fired a shot by White Bear Lake goalie Leo Gabriel.  Thats all the scoring we would see until late in the 3rd period when White Bear Lakes Jack Stanius would tie the game up at 1 and we seemed destined for another overtime finish.  However Grand Rapids would capitalize on a 5:00 major penalty and Nathan Garski made an incredibly acrobatic play to get the game winning goal with less than 2 seconds to play in the game.  The White Bear Lake players and fans were stunned to see if happen again to their favorite squad.  Grand Rapids will now play Edina tomorrow night with a chance to go to the state championship game on saturday.  WBL will head to the consolation round tomorrow with the hopes of extending their season one more game.
