Hockey fans finally got what they wanted in the second matchup of the day when Centennial played Cretin Derham Hall.
Cretin Derham Hall 4
Centennial 3
Centennial jumped out to a 3-0 lead in this game and it appeared they were on their way to a semi-final game friday night, however we have learned to never count Cretin out. Head coach Matt Funke is a great hockey mind and they figured out a way to battle back and take the game to double overtime.
The first period saw goals by Centennials Harper Searles and 2 by Nick Carls. Cretins Aidan Siegfried would get one back to make it a 3-1 Centennial lead after 1. Chuck Owens and Max Anderson would each add a goal as Cretin Derham Hall dominated the offensive zone pressure to force overtime. The first 8 minute extra session didn’t offer much for offensive chances so we went with a fresh sheet of ice and another 17:00 on the clock. Max Anderson of Cretin would end it after some intense pressure by the Crusaders and they would advance to the Semi-final matchup against Chanhassen Friday evening.
