St. Cloud Cathedral defeated Orono 8-5 in a high-scoring affair. St. Cloud Cathedral dominated the third period, scoring four goals to pull away from a close game. Andrew Dwinnell was the star of the show for St. Cloud Cathedral, scoring four goals, including two on the power play and one shorthanded. John Hirschfeld added two goals and an assist for St. Cloud Cathedral, while Joey Gillespie had a goal and two assists. Orono’s offense was led by Luca DeCubellis, Ben Setnicker, Joey Mugaas, and Jackson Knight, who each scored a goal. John Engebretson also had a goal and two assists for Orono. Both teams went 2-for-2 on the power play, but St. Cloud Cathedral’s strong third period was the difference in the game.

#2 The second star go the game goes to Cathedrals Joey Gillespie,  Joey netted one goal for his team and also had an assist, Gillespie was a key factor in getting this Cathedral team going as he score early in the game.

#1 The First star goes to none other than St. Cloud Cathedrals Andrew Dwinnell, Dwinnell scored a huge amount of goal last night with four goals he was one of the key players in this game for cathedral.

Warroad 3

Theif River Falls 1

The Warroad Warriors skated away with a narrow 3-1 victory over the Thief River Falls  in a gritty battle. Despite outshooting their opponents by a staggering margin of 52 to 13, Warroad found the net just three times, but that proved to be enough against a determined Thief River Falls squad.

Both teams struggled to convert on their power play opportunities, going 0 for 1 and 0 for 2 respectively. The deciding factor came in the form of even strength goals, with Warroad’s balanced attack proving too much for the. Murray Marvin-Cordes opened the scoring early, followed by tallies from Carson Pilgrim and Taven James. Thief River Falls managed a lone goal in the second period through Jackson Boyer, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the offensive barrage from Warroad.

While the final score suggests a comfortable win for Warroad, the Prowlers never gave up, battling hard throughout the entire game. The victory for Warroad was hard-earned, showcasing their offensive firepower and opportunistic scoring in the face of a determined opponent.

  • Defense The Warriors were solid in the D-zone. Not to take away anything from their goaltender who also had a save percentage of 923 but the defense proved to be rock solid and took away most chances the prowlers had.
  • The Warroad boys can score. Even when faced with pressure, some calls and bounces not going their way they till have poise with the puck and have no problem putting on in the back of the net.

 

St. Micheal-Albertville 3

Cloquet/Esko/Carlton 1

The St. Michael-Albertville Knights edged out the Cloquet/Esko/Carlton Lumberjacks in a tightly contested battle, claiming a 3-1 victory. Despite outshooting their opponents 31 to 27, the Lumberjacks struggled to convert on their scoring chances, while the Knights capitalized on theirs.

The game remained scoreless through the first period, but the second stanza saw both teams light the lamp. St. Michael-Albertville struck first thanks to Reme Lobitz’s even-strength goal early on. However, the Lumberjacks responded with a power-play tally from Karson Young just minutes later, evening the score.

The third period proved decisive for the Knights. Tanner Esterberg and Caleb Waller found the net within two minutes of each other, putting St. Michael-Albertville ahead by two goals. The Lumberjacks were unable to muster a comeback, despite outshooting the Knights 9 to 5 in the final frame.

St. Michael-Albertville’s strong penalty kill, going 1 for 1 on the power play, proved crucial in their victory. The Knights also capitalized on Cloquet/Esko/Carlton’s penalties, taking advantage of five minutes of power play time to their two minutes.

While the Lumberjacks put up a valiant effort and outshot their opponents, their inability to convert on their scoring chances ultimately cost them the game. St. Michael-Albertville, on the other hand, made the most of their opportunities and emerged victorious in a close encounter.
