Hermantown Starts slow, overpowers Alexandria

Hermantown let Alexandria hang around a bit before crushing their upset dreams at the state tournament.

Hermantown 6
Alexandria 0

After the first period the game according to stats was pretty even, 1-0 Hermantown led, shots were 14-12 Hawks and Alexandria had a handful of good scoring chances, unfortunately for them Hermantown goalie Dane Calloway is very good and they could not get the puck past him in this game.

Period 2 saw Hermantown pick up the pace and outshoot Alex 18-2, Henry Peterson gets credit for 2 goals, (one of them was actually a deflection off an Alexandria skater into his own net) and Alex Francisco would net the 3rd goal of the period.

The third was no different as Charlie Marchand and River Freeman would score for Hermantown and the Hawks would sail into the semi-final Friday once again.  Watch for a much tighter game when they face off against the defending state champs Mahtomedi for the 2nd time this season.  Back in November when they played it was a 5-1 win for Hermantown, but shots were pretty even and the Zephyrs just know how to win come playoff time here in Minnesota high school Hockey.
