Mace’o Phillips has committed to the University of Minnesota.  The towering Defensman, (6’5″) played for the Benilde St. Margarets high school team in Minnesota last season.  He has opted to leave and join the NTDP team for the upcoming season in preparation for his future D1 hockey career.  Last season for Benilde he played in 27 games and put up 22 points as a young defenseman (10th grade).  The Gophers are getting a true shut down defender that can provide offense when needed.  He has an explosive stride and is not afraid to shoot the puck when given the opportunity.  Some scouts have him picked as a potential 1st round NHL draft pick.  Best of luck to this youngster as he embarks on his next hockey journey.
