Andover Huskies Head to Section 5AA After State Tournament Run

After capturing the Section 7AA title and making another trip to the Class AA State Tournament, the Andover Huskies are set for a new chapter. Starting in the 2025-26 season, the Huskies will compete in Section 5AA, joining a deep and competitive field that includes:

This realignment sets the stage for new rivalries and playoff paths as the Huskies aim to build on last season’s postseason momentum.

🔁 Strong Finish, Tough Start

Despite a tough 0-7-1 start, Andover turned things around midseason and finished strong. They went 9-2 in their final 11 regular-season games, including wins over Rogers, Grand Rapids, and Maple Grove, before storming through the Section 7AA playoffs.

In the postseason, the Huskies defeated Duluth Denfeld, Grand Rapids, and Rock Ridge en route to a Section 7AA championship and a return trip to St. Paul.

🧤 Goaltending Backbone

Junior goalie Cash Cruitt returns after starting all 30 games last season. His numbers speak for themselves:

  • .924 save percentage

  • 2.33 goals against average

  • 5 shutouts

Cruitt gives Andover one of the top goaltending foundations in the state heading into 2025-26.

⚡ Offensive Leaders Return

Andover’s scoring attack was led by underclassmen who will be back next year:

  • Camden Langfeld (10)37 points (12G, 25A)

  • KJ Sauer (11)33 points (17G, 16A)

  • Chase Nadeau (11)30 points (5G, 25A)

  • Luke Babineau (12)24 points (14G, 10A)

The Huskies also got key contributions from Brody Peterson, Jack Rykkeli, William Thackeray, and Jordan Giacomini, giving them multi-line scoring potential.

🔒 Defensive Depth

Led by Owen Lutgen, Casey Rodgers, and Mason Sanders, the blue line is mobile and physical. Add in Nadeau’s puck-moving ability from the back end, and Andover’s defensive core matches up well with their new section opponents.

🔮 What to Watch in 2025-26

The move to Section 5AA introduces new challenges, but Andover enters as a top contender. With proven goaltending, a core group of returners, and confidence from a deep playoff run, the Huskies could be a force in a section that includes perennial contenders like Maple Grove, Centennial, and Champlin Park.
