Hibbing/Chisholm 4, East Grand Forks 3

Hibbing/Chisholm built a lead in the second period and then held off a late push from East Grand Forks to come away with a 4–3 win Tuesday night.

After a scoreless first, East Grand Forks struck first early in the second when Shawn Lind found the net to make it 1–0. Hibbing/Chisholm answered almost immediately. Whitaker Rewertz scored just seconds later to tie it.

The Bluejackets took control with a power-play goal from Jackson Strukel midway through the period, then added another late when Isaiah Hildenbrand finished a chance to make it 3–1 heading into the third.

East Grand Forks didn’t go away. Nolan Meulebroeck scored on the power play early in the third to pull EGF within one. Hibbing/Chisholm responded again, as Cole Swanson made it 4–2 less than a minute later.

Meulebroeck added his second of the night late in the game to make it 4–3 but they could not get the game tying goal in the end.

Tate Swanson picked up three assists for Hibbing/Chisholm, while Rewertz and Cole Swanson each had a goal and an assist. In goal, Gavin Lamphere turned aside 29 shots. East Grand Forks outshot Hibbing/Chisholm 32–31, with Noah Schindele making 27 saves.
