Delano Secures Section 2A Top Seed as Overtime, One-Goal Games Shape Busy Night of Boys Hockey


Delano 5, Blake 4 (OT)

Delano clinches Section 2A top seed with overtime win

Delano locked up the No. 1 seed in Section 2A with a 5–4 overtime win over Blake, leaning on senior captain Daniel Halonen in the biggest moments of the night.

Blake jumped out early behind two first-period goals from Joe Erickson, but Delano answered late in the period and steadily worked its way back. Halonen scored three times, including the game-winner just 28 seconds into overtime on the power play.

Delano erased a 3–2 deficit late in the second period when Halonen scored short-handed, then took its first lead midway through the third on a goal by Brady Kangas. Blake forced overtime with a power-play goal in the final minutes, but Delano wasted little time finishing it.


Eagan 2, Lakeville North 1

Williams scores twice as Eagan edges Lakeville North

Ben Williams scored once in the opening minute and again early in the third period to lift Eagan past Lakeville North, 2–1.

Lakeville North tied the game late in the second period on a goal by Landon Dewees, but Eagan reclaimed the lead just over six minutes into the third. Both goalies were sharp, with Austin Schwark stopping 27 shots for Eagan and David Isaacson turning aside 34 for Lakeville North.


Rosemount 6, Lakeville South 3

Second-period surge carries Rosemount past Lakeville South

Rosemount broke the game open in the second period, scoring four times to pull away from Lakeville South in a 6–3 win.

Cade Sherman scored twice during that stretch, while Jack Lonke finished with a goal and two assists. Lakeville South cut into the lead early in the third but couldn’t close the gap. Rosemount finished with 35 shots and controlled play for most of the night.


Park of Cottage Grove 4, Holy Family 1

Park of Cottage Grove pulls away after tight opening period

After a 1–1 first period, Park of Cottage Grove scored three unanswered goals to take down Holy Family, 4–1.

Nick Bailey and Chase Nadler led the way, with Nadler scoring twice. Hank Voss made 22 saves in net as Park of Cottage Grove limited Holy Family’s chances in the final two periods.
