As soon as he could he started playing St. Michael – Albertville (STMA) youth hockey as a Mite and continued through Bantams. At the end of his second Bantam season, Andrew advocated for himself to transfer to Cathedral High School which he did as a sophomore. He knew the chances of playing Varsity his sophomore year, due to the MSHSL rule, was unlikely. Andrew appealed to MSHSL and unfortunately lost the appeal. This didn’t deter him – Andrew played JV his first season as a Crusader keeping a positive attitude and working hard which led him to breaking the school scoring record. As a Junior, Andrew beat the netminder during the section final game in double OT sending the Crusaders to the 2023 MN State Hockey Tournament. Playing in the state tournament is his favorite hockey memory because it’s what every hockey player dreams of.
