Andover Captures Section 7AA Title, Returns to the State Tournament
The Andover Huskies are heading back to the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament after a 3-1 victory over Rock Ridge in the Section 7AA Championship. After falling short in the section playoffs last season, the Huskies reclaimed their spot among the state’s elite with a well-rounded performance.
Game Recap
First Period: Andover struck first late in the opening period when Camden Langfeld found the back of the net at 11:05, assisted by William Thackeray and Chase Nadeau.
Second Period: Rock Ridge responded on the power play early in the second, as Grady Dimberio capitalized at 4:28, with assists from Jackson Bartovich and Colton Bialke, tying the game at 1-1. But the Huskies regained the lead at 11:55, thanks to a power-play goal from KJ Sauer, assisted by Owen Lutgen and Chase Nadeau. Langfeld struck again at 16:47, giving Andover a 3-1 lead heading into the third.
Third Period: Despite Rock Ridge outshooting Andover 14-9 in the final frame, Huskies goaltender Cash Cruitt stood tall, stopping 36 of 37 shots to secure the section title.
