The road to the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament is almost complete, and seven more teams have punched their tickets to St. Paul! Here’s a recap of the latest section championship battles:

Andover Secures a Trip to State

Andover came out strong against Rock Ridge, capitalizing on special teams play and shutting things down defensively in the third period to seal a 3-1 victory. Camden Langfeld scored twice, while Cash Cruitt stood tall in net, stopping 36 of 37 shots.

Mahtomedi Takes Down Chisago Lakes

Mahtomedi is heading back to the State Tournament after a hard-fought 3-1 win over Chisago Lakes. Brock Gutterman, Laken Decker, and Winston Wright each found the back of the net, while goalie Wes Strub made 28 saves to send the Zephyrs back to the big stage.

Rogers Makes History with First State Appearance

For the first time ever, Rogers is heading to the State Tournament! A fast start helped Rogers secure a 4-3 win over Champlin Park. Nolen Geerdes, Jake Vukich, Keaton Weis, and Brock Cheslock scored, while Wyatt Knott backstopped the Royals to history.

Lakeville South Rolls Past Rival Lakeville North

Lakeville South controlled the game from start to finish, outshooting Lakeville North 48-16 in a commanding 5-1 victory. Brayden Olsen scored twice, and Carter Ernst added three assists as South returns to St. Paul.

Northern Lakes Claims the Section Title

Northern Lakes is heading to the State Tournament after holding off Alexandria in a 4-3 win. Drew Paulbeck led the way with two goals, while goalie Sam Suja made 42 saves to secure the championship.

Shakopee Makes History in First State Appearance

For the first time ever, Shakopee is headed to the State Tournament! The Sabers shut out Holy Family 4-0, with Owen Lunneborg stopping all 24 shots he faced. Zach Docteur, Jack Kultgen, Cooper Simpson, and Nate Pederson each scored in the win.

East Grand Forks Wins Overtime Thriller

It took extra time, but East Grand Forks clinched a trip to the State Tournament with a 3-2 OT victory over Warroad. Jace Panzer played the hero, scoring the game-winner just under three minutes into overtime.
