Hibbing/Chisholm Punches Ticket to State with Overtime Thriller
Hibbing is heading to the Minnesota State Tournament after a dramatic 4-3 overtime victory over Cloquet in the Section 7A Championship.

First Period: A tense, defensive opening frame saw both teams held scoreless, with Hibbing/Chisholm outshooting Cloquet 8-6.

Second Period: Cloquet struck first at 13:36, but Hibbin responded just 13 seconds later as Joey Gabardi netted the equalizer. With under a minute left in the period, Tate Swanson buried a go-ahead goal to give the Bluejackets a 2-1 lead heading into the third.

Third Period: Cloquet answered quickly, tying the game on a power play goal at 3:54 before taking the lead at 8:44. Just when it looked like the Lumberjacks might hang on, Cole Swanson delivered a clutch goal at 9:40 to send the game to overtime.

Overtime: It didn’t take long for Hibbing/Chisholm to make history, as freshman Whitaker Rewertz buried the game-winning goal just 2:18 into overtime, sending the Bluejackets back to St. Paul for the Class A State Tournament.
