St. Thomas Academy Cruises Past Two Rivers in Section Semifinals
Braemar Arena, Edina – St. Thomas Academy punched their ticket to the Section 3AA Championship with a dominant 7-1 victory over Two Rivers on Tuesday night. The Cadets controlled the game from start to finish, outshooting the Warriors 42-16 and converting twice on the power play to secure the win.
First Period: Fast Start for the Cadets
St. Thomas Academy wasted no time establishing their dominance. William Dosan opened the scoring at 6:50, followed by Peter Murray and another tally from Dosan before the period ended, giving the Cadets a 3-0 lead after one.
Meanwhile, Two Rivers struggled to generate offense, managing just five shots in the opening frame against goaltender Cody Niesen.
Second Period: St. Thomas Pulls Away
The Cadets continued to apply pressure, adding three more goals in the second period. Jackson Rudh scored at 7:49 and added another on the power play at 11:20. Nico Russ capped off the period with an even-strength goal, extending the lead to 6-0.
Two Rivers finally broke through late in the period when Eddie Auran buried a rebound with 15:48 remaining, assisted by Eddie Drury and Griffin Bauers.
Third Period: Finishing Strong
With the game already in hand, St. Thomas Academy kept their foot on the gas. Dosan completed his hat trick on the power play at 12:37, finishing with a game-high three goals and one assist.
Two Rivers had limited chances in the final frame, managing just four shots as Niesen stood tall in net, finishing the night with 15 saves on 16 shots (.938 SV%).
