Braemar Arena, Edina – After falling behind early, Cretin-Derham Hall (23-3-1) erupted for eight unanswered goals, defeating Rosemount (23-4-0) 8-2 in the Section 3AA semifinals. The win sets up a highly anticipated section final matchup against St. Thomas Academy.

First Period: Rosemount Strikes Early

The Irish came out strong, capitalizing on a power-play opportunity just over six minutes in. Cade Sherman buried a goal on the man advantage, assisted by Christian Garrity and Josh Toll, giving Rosemount a 1-0 lead. Just over a minute later, Connor Schubert extended the lead to 2-0, putting Cretin-Derham Hall in an early hole.

Despite the deficit, Cretin goaltender Owen Nelson stood firm, stopping multiple high-danger chances to keep his team within striking distance.

Second Period: Cretin Takes Over

The momentum completely shifted in the second period, as Cretin-Derham Hall exploded for four goals in a span of six minutes.

• Max Bennett got the Raiders on the board at 2:12, finishing off a setup from Cam Autrey.
• Just 25 seconds later, Nate Chorlton tied the game at 2-2, assisted by Max Anderson and Jonny Bloedow.
• Veszi Lippai put Cretin in front at 3-2, finishing a great pass from Marcus Matyas at 3:30.
• At 8:19, Bennett struck again, giving the Raiders a commanding 4-2 lead heading into the final frame.

Rosemount managed just eight shots in the second period, as Cretin’s defense tightened up while their offense continued to roll.

Third Period: Raiders Put it Away

Cretin-Derham Hall showed no signs of slowing down, tacking on four more goals in the third period to seal the win.

• Brody Ruprecht made it 5-2 just five minutes in, assisted by Matyas.
• Chorlton buried his second of the night on an empty net at 13:33.
• John King and Matyas added two late goals, officially securing Cretin’s dominant 8-2 victory.
