🏒 Four Teams Punch Their Ticket to Section Finals! 🏒
High school hockey playoffs are heating up, and last night’s games did not disappoint! Here’s a quick look at how the Section 3AA and 4A semifinals played out.
🔹 Game 1: Chisago Lakes Shuts Out Simley, 4-0
The Wildcats dominated from start to finish, outshooting Simley 60-16. Austin Slettom opened the scoring in the first, and Max Koch added a power-play goal in the second. Goaltender Shandley Corbin was perfect between the pipes, stopping all 16 shots to send Chisago Lakes to the Section 4A Championship.
🔹 Game 2: Mahtomedi Rolls Past St. Paul Highland Park, 10-2
Mahtomedi made a statement, scoring three goals in each of the first two periods before pouring on four more in the third. Laken Decker (2G, 1A) and Winston Wright (1G, 2A) led the offensive surge, while the Zephyrs’ penalty kill kept Highland Park to 2-for-9 on the power play. Mahtomedi now advances to the Section 4A Final.
🔹 Game 3: St. Thomas Academy Cruises Past Two Rivers, 7-1
The Cadets proved too much for Two Rivers, controlling the game from the opening puck drop. William Dosan (3G, 1A) led the charge, and Jackson Rudh (2G, 1A) added to the offensive explosion. Goaltender Cody Niesen (15 saves, .938 SV%) backstopped STA to another section final appearance.
🔹 Game 4: Cretin-Derham Hall Storms Back to Beat Rosemount, 8-2
After trailing 2-0 in the first, Cretin-Derham Hall responded with eight unanswered goals to power past Rosemount. Max Bennett (2G) and Nate Chorlton (2G) fueled the Raiders’ offense, while goalie Owen Nelson (26 saves, .929 SV%) shut down Rosemount in the final two periods. CDH will now face St. Thomas Academy in the Section 3AA Championship.
