Game Recap: Warroad 2, Roseau 1
First Period
Roseau struck first at 14:40, as Eli Wensloff found the back of the net on an even-strength play, assisted by Jacksyn Loken, giving the Rams an early 1-0 lead. Both teams battled physically, with Roseau’s Tucker Kvien taking a cross-checking penalty late in the period. Despite the power-play opportunity, Warroad was unable to capitalize, and the Rams held their slim advantage into the first intermission.
Second Period
Warroad flipped the momentum in the second frame. At 9:38, Sam Hard capitalized on the power play, scoring off a feed from Ryan Shaugabay and Taven James to even the score at 1-1. Warroad continued to press, and at 14:26, Casey Hendrickson netted the eventual game-winner on an even-strength play, again with assists from James and Shaugabay.
The Warriors dominated the period, outshooting Roseau 15-5, and their aggressive forecheck kept the Rams on their heels.
Third Period
Despite a valiant effort by Roseau, including seven shots on goal, Warroad’s defense and goaltender Finn Hanson held firm. Hanson’s stellar performance, with 21 saves on 22 shots (.955 save percentage), anchored Warroad through the final stretch. Roseau’s last-ditch effort fell short, and Warroad sealed the 2-1 victory.
