The Crusaders made another appearance at the Minnesota High School hockey tournament last season after starting the season 0-3 with losses to Warroad, Cambridge/Isanti and Thief River Falls, they did however turn things around toward the end of the season and were playing their best hockey come playoff time.

In the first round they played River Lakes and it was all Crusaders in this game, they would outshoot the Stars 50-26 and come away with a 6-0 win.  The section semi-final game was against the Monticello Moose and after a 1-1 first period it was again all St. Cloud Cathedral as they would end up getting a 7-2 win (shots were 50-23).  The Section 5A finals was a fantastic game between the Crusaders of St. Cloud Cathedral and the Little Falls Flyers.  Early on it was all Little Falls as senior Matt Filippi would score 3 goals putting the Flyers up 3-0 early in the 2nd period.  Cathedral would answer back with goals by Andrew Dwinnell, Jaeger Wood and the game tying goal in the 3rd period by Landon Swenson, this goal would ultimately send the game to the first overtime where it would remain tied at 3.  In the 2nd overtime St Cloud Cathedrals Andrew Dwinnell would send his team to the state tournament with this game winning goal!

St. Cloud Cathedral should be the favorite to win section 5A again this season as they return most of their team including the top 5 leading scorers and their goalie Nick Hansen and his .913 save %.  Keep an eye on the following players:
