Last night in the Minnesota High School Hockey 6 teams punched their ticket to the 2023 State Tournament, here is your recap:

SECTION 4AA
Gentry Academy upsets number 1 seed White Bear Lake 5-1.  White Bear Lake did outshoot the Stars 34-29 but it did not matter as Reese Shaw, Ryder Betzold, Max Vonklinggraef, Easton Rooney and Eli Bailey all scored for Gentry Academy, they will now head to the section 4AA championship game tomorrow night.

It took until the 2nd period but Hill-Murray ended Woodbury’s attempt at an upset when Graham Greeder would get the Pioneers on the scoreboard.  Boeden Sampair would add another goal early in the third.  Mathhew Tarlton would get a goal for Woodbury but that was all the scoring they would get.  Final score was 3-1 Hill-Murray.  They advance to the section 4AA championship game vs Gentry Academy tomorrow night.

SECTION 3AA
Cretin-Derham Hall is returning to the state tournament again this season as they defeat the St. Thomas Academy Cadets 4-2 last night at Braemar Arena.

SECTION 1A
Northfield avenges last season’s upset loss to New Prague with a 6-0 win last night and they will represent section 1A next week at the state tournament.

SECTION 6AA
Edina will return to the state tournament once again as they defeat a very good Wayzata team 2-1.

SECTION 5A
St. Cloud Cathedral gets by Little Falls 4-3 in double OT last night to advance to the state tournament.  Little Falls 9th grade goalie Izaak Kalis was sensation in the loss, he had 54 saves and posted a .913 save %.

SECTION 7A
Hermantown advances to another state tournament appearance with a 3-1 win over Rock Ridge.

SECTION 3A
It will be Luverne representing this section as they upset the #1 overall seed New Ulm Eagles 4-2.
