Yesterday at the Minnesota Girls State Hockey Tournament we had 2 good games and 2 blowout games, that usually is the case with class A hockey in MN.

Starting the day it was Proctor/Hermantown vs Mankato East. This game could have been a blowout but the Mankato East Cougars refused to quit. Heading into the third period it was 3-0 Proctor/Hermantown before Mankato East would score 2 quick goals to make it 3-2, Proctor/Hermantown scored to make it 4-2 and that was followed by another goal from McKenzie Keller (Mankato East) but that was all the scoring that would occur in this game and the final was 4-3 Proctor/Hermantown. Shots were 41-14 in favor of the Mirage. They will now play Orono tomorrow in the semi-final game, Mankato East will play Luverne today in consolation hockey.

Orono dominated all aspects of the game vs Luverne in the 6-0 win. Scoring for the Spartans was:
Mae Grandy (power play) (#8 Anika Fortin)01
Macy Rasmussen (even strength) (#11 Maddy Kimbrel)02
Zoe Lopez (even strength) (#8 Anika Fortin)03
Maddy Kimbrel x2 (even strength) (#20 Grace Bickett, #23 Macy Rasmussen)04
Zoe Lopez (even strength) (#8 Anika Fortin, #4 Mae Grandy)05
Orono will now play Proctor Hermantown in what should be a great girls high school game tomorrow.

Warroad 15 Albert Lea 1. Warroad is very very good and showed us all that yesterday.

South St. Paul 1 – Fergus Falls 0 (2-OT)
In the nightcap from the Excel Energy center it was the Fergus Falls goalie Ana Jyrkas almost stealing the game, she faced 41 total shots and only allowed 1 goal in the 2nd overtime, this is good for a .976 save %. Scoring the game winning goal for South St. Paul was #19 Sarah Wincentsen to advance her team to the next round vs Warroad.
