It was supposed to be a quite night in MN high school hockey last night, but mother nature had other ideas. We are currently in line for a good old fashioned blizzard and most teams moved their games up to avoid the snow. To see all the class A playoff brackets click here, to see the class AA click here, otherwise here are a few games that caught our eye from last night:
SECTION 2A:
WACONIA 3
MOUND WESTONKA 0
Waconia now moves on to play Providence Academy this coming saturday.
SECTION 6AA:
In a crazy back and forth game it was the Academy of Holy Angels with a 5-4 OT win over St. Louis Park. Sophomore Charlie Clements scored his 2nd goal of the night to get the Holy Angels the win, they will now play Wayzata this Saturday.
SECTION 5A:
Monticello was lucky to get by Pine City 2-1. Pine Cities 10th grade goalie Aaron Rootkie was sensational, stopping 38 of 40 shots he faced. Monticello now will play St. Cloud Cathedral in their quest to get back to the state tournament.
SECTION 1A:
The sensational high school career of Kyle Ahlschlager comes to an end for Waseca with their 5-4 loss last night to Rochester Lourdes. Rochester will now play Northfield this Saturday.
SECTION 8A:
Park Rapids survived the upset bid by Crookston when Kale Ravnaas scored the OT goal to end the game. Park Rapids now will head to Warroad this weekend in a game against possibly the best team in the state of MN.
SECTION 7A:
Hibbing earned a date with top seeded Hermantown after their 2-0 win over Proctor last night.
SECTION 8AA:
In the upset of the night it was Elk River with a 3-1 win over Buffalo. Many people had Buffalo picked as their dark horse in section 8AA. Elk River will now play Roseau again as they attempt to pull off a repeat of last season. (a trip to the section championship game)
