Last night in the Minnesota Boys High School hockey world it was a fairly quiet night with just 10 games on the schedule, here are a few that we paid attention too:

Eastview 6 – Shakopee 2
This was a big game for Eastview as they had lost 4 out of the past 6 games and this was a must win for them.  They would jump out to a 2-0 lead with goals by Tanner Kronberg and Caleb Nelson early in the first period.  Shakopee would respond as Jake Marschall and Grant Haug would tie the game at 2-2 after the first period.  It was all Eastview after that, they would score 4 unanswered goals to make it a 6-2 final score.  (ach Wooten would get 2 goals, Charlie Ortman and Logan Opgrand). Eastview improves to 9-5 and will play Eagan January 20th.  Shakopee is 9-4 and plays Gentry Academy tonight.

Mahtomedi 6 – Benilde St Margaret’s 4
Mahtomedi impressed to start this game as they would jump out to a 3-0 lead after the first period over Benilde St. Margarets who had won 6 straight coming into this game.  Scoring for the Zephyrs was David Wolsfeld, Wyatt Tarnowski and Jonny Grove.  Benilde would mkae it a 3-2 game with goals by Drew Stewart and Mason Minor before David Wolsfeld would add his 2nd of the game, (assisted by Corey Bohmert and Sam Harris). Benilde St Margarets would respond with another goal of their own (Ryan Baird) to make it a 4-3 game.  Seth Nelson for mahtomedi makes it a 5-3 game at the 11:56 mark of the 3rd period and Benilde would answer once again as Wes Berg would get his 8th goal of the season to make it a 5-4 game with less than a minute to play.  Mahtomedi would add an empty net goal to get the 6-4 win and improve to 10-3 and has another AA team January 18 as they head to Eden Prairie.  Benilde will play Champlin Park January 18th in another game against a quality team.

Rochester Mayo 4 – Northfield 2
Rochester Mayo came into this game off an upset loss to Rochester John Marshall and was looking to change that feeling.  Mayo would outshoot Northfield 33-24 and made sure they did not add another loss to their record last night.  They are now 10-3-1 and have won 10 of their past 11 games.  They will play Rochester Century January 19 in an important section 1AA matchup.  Northfield is 10-4 and will head to Mankato West January 19th as they try to avoid a 3rd straight loss.
