Rochester Mayo Comes From Behind to Beat Dodge County, 4-3
All good things must end. That’s the lesson Dodge County learned on Saturday night, when the Rochester Mayo Spartans snapped the Wildcats’ seven-game win streak with a thrilling 4-3 comeback victory. Midway through the game, Dodge County seemed have the game well in hand, when shorthanded goals from #7 Brody Lamb and #14 Matt Donovan put the Wildcats up 3-0. But a strong second ended with goals from #11 Ryan Dripps and #23 Ethan Dennis, bringing Mayo within one. Halfway into the final period, #8 Jacob Brown tied the game at 3-3, allowing #6 Javon Hodge to score a game-winning powerplay goal with less than 2-minutes left. Goaltender #1 Tate Cothern earns the win, bringing Mayo’s record to 8-2-0 as they prepare to host Rochester Century on Thursday 2/25. Dodge County goalie #31 Isaac Dale stopped 9 shots in the loss. The Wildcats (7-2-1) look to return to form on Friday 2/26, when they’ll host La Crescent-Hokah.
