Minnesota High School Hockey recap for January 12, 2023.

Last night in the State of Hockey there were 40+ boys high school games played and 30+ girls games.  We picked out a few boys games that were of interest to us to preview and predict winners and the final score, here is a recap and how our predictions played out:

Game 1 featured Chanhassen vs. Prior Lake:  We predicted a 5-1 win for Chanhassen and the actual final score was 4-1.  Chanhassen was dominant in this game, they outshot Prior Lake 29-11 in the win, scoring for the Storm was Brayden Willis, Tyler Smith, Owen Buesgens and Caden Lee.  This is Chanhassens 14th straight win, they are now 14-1-0 and host rival Chaska January 21 at 7:00.  Prior Lake falls to 7-7-0 and plays Apple Valley tonight.

Game 2 was between Simley and Two Rivers, our prediction was a 4-1 win for Two Rivers and the actual final score was 3-0 win for Two Rivers.  Eddie Auran scored twice for Two Rivers and Casey Ball added the empty net goal to seal the victory.  Two Rivers should have the inside track to at least the #2 seed in section 4A playoffs.  If they can pull off the upset vs. Mahtomedi on 2-7-2023 they may set themselves up for the top seed come playoffs.  Its been a great season so far for this squad.

Our game 3 prediction was 4-3 win for the Andover Huskies over Centennial and the actual final was 4-1 Andover.  Brock Carls would get the only goal for Centennial.  Scoring for Andover was Cooper Conway, Landon Stringfellow, Cayden Casey and Gavyn Thoreson.  Andover is now 9-5-1 and plays Totino Grace tomorrow.  Centennial is 7-4-1 and has a game at Blaine tomorrow at 3:00.

Game 4 was Delano vs Orono and our prediction was a 4-1 win for Orono.  The actual final score was 5-1 Orono.  Shots were pretty even in this game, 32 for Orono and 29 for Delano.  Scoring for Orono was Joey Greenagel, Miller Williams x2, Luca DeCubellis and Bradley Walker.  Delano’s lone goal was scored by Aaron Lewis.  Orono improves to 11-2-0 and will play section rival Providence Academy January 17.  Orono is the clear #1 seed in section 2A barring a major slump in their play.  Delano should remain the #2 seed for now and they will play Monticello tomorrow at 2:00.

Our fifth and final prediction was Rogers 5 – Champlin Park 3.  The final score of this game was a 6-5 win for Rogers.  This was a heartbreaking loss for Champlin Park as they scored 3 goals in the third period to tie the game and Rogers would get the game winning goal in the last minute of the game.  Rogers has a huge game against Maple Grove tomorrow at 3:00.  Champlin Park (9-4-0) will play Elk River tomorrow.  See the complete list of scores for both the girls and boys high school hockey at followthepuckapp.com
