When it comes to choosing a new hockey bag, the Warrior Pro is almost always one of the first options players look to. But is it actually worth it? In this post I’ll dive into the ins and outs of this bag, and whether or not it’s right for you.
Warrior Pro Senior Hockey Bag Overview + Need To Know
The Warrior Pro Hockey Bag is overall a quality bag at a reasonable price. Here’s what I did and didn’t like about it.
- Plenty of space to fit gear, but not too big so it doesn’t take up extra space
- Top zipper is convenient for opening and closing (personal preference)
- Multiple color options
- Pretty simple hockey bag
- Could use better ventilation
What I Liked About The Warrior Pro Bag
All in all, I think that the Warrior Pro is a quality option for most hockey players. What I really enjoyed about it was that it had a lot of space to fit all of my gear, but it really didn’t add a lot of space to the locker room. It features a square-like shape that holds up by itself which makes it nice for stacking bags on the bus – especially if your entire team has them.
I felt as though the bag was quite durable. It’s made of a heavy-duty material that appears to be long lasting – time will tell though. It’s also waterproof which is an obvious advantage. Having the sweat of your hockey gear drain through the side of the bag is no fun. The zipper is strong and sturdy which is comforting as I’ve had zipper issues on my previous bag, which caused a lot of frustration.
Some bags have a zipper formation that looks like a “U” and the entire top of the hockey bag will flip open. I am a fan of bags that feature zippers directly across the middle. This is totally a personal preference, but I’ve found that it’s easier to open and close with gear in it. The zipper can be pulled straight across compared to changing directions.
A first-world problem no doubt – but it’s something that I look for when it comes to buying a new hockey bag.
While the Warrior Pro bag is pretty simple overall, you can choose from multiple different color options on hockey monkey or pure hockey. I enjoy a simple color scheme which is why I like the black and white myself, but you can choose between red, navy, green, black/ white, black/ red, black/ orange, alpha, maroon, navy/ red, and more.
Granted, there isn’t much more customization other than that, but picking your color is kind of cool. The big thing here is matching your team color with your bag. Nothing looks classier than a team with black and orange uniforms walking in with a black and orange bag. Look good, feel good, play good.
Another plus to this hockey bag is that it has skate holders. You can slip your skates into a side pocket after getting the brakes beat off in a big away game and find them quickly when you make it back to the home rink – without cutting the rest of your equipment. That’s half the battle right there. Especially if for some reason you aren’t using skate guards.
- The last feature of the bag that I really like is the look. It isn’t too flashy, but it gets the job done. It’s simple and clean. Nothing more – nothing less. It’s a hockey bag. It’s purpose is to hold all of your hockey equipment, but if you can get style points for not a lot of extra work – why not??Oh and before we move onto the negatives, the price of the Warrior Pro Bag is unreal. Less than a 100 bucks. Personally, I don’t think that you can go wrong with that. If you’d like to support the hockey guys, we’d appreciate it if you use our affiliate link at Hockey Monkey!
What I Didn’t Like About The Pro Warrior Bag
Obviously, this wouldn’t be a fair bag review if I didn’t mention what I didn’t like about this bag. For one, it doesn’t have the best ventilation. Because the bag is a waterproof material, it doesn’t ventilate nor dry the gear on the inside very well. Which, can be a good thing at times (like driving home with the bag in your car), but if you accidentally leave your gear in your bag overnight – or several nights, it isn’t going to be pretty when you open it up again.
As in, it’s going to smell quite rancid. Now, you can get away with throwing the shoulder pads in the bag and leaving it overnight occasionally, but I wouldn’t recommend making a habit out of it!
And the other aspect of the bag could be considered both a positive and a negative, but it’s a pretty simple bag overall. It doesn’t really have a whole lot of additional pockets to throw tape and laces. Or whatever extra equipment like socks that you might have.
Now, I know hockey players that did have hockey bags with all the gizmos and gadgets, but they never actually put those to use. So in your case, being that this bag is pretty boring – it might actually work out for you. And most other hockey players.
In the end, I would say that the Warrior Pro Player Carry Hockey Bag is worth it. It really doesn’t break the bank, it’s durable and it has plenty of space to hold hockey equipment. Now if you are interested in all of the fancy additions that you might find in a hockey bag, maybe this bag isn’t for you. But for most hockey players like myself, you can’t really go wrong with this one.
Hopefully, this hockey bag review was helpful. Good luck on the ice!
